Velma Lloyd, a 92 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 11:59 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2018 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton.  Inurnment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.  Memorial Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Kitchen Fund or Compassus Hospice and may be left with or mailed to Whitaker Eads Funeral Home.
Velma was born September 17, 1925 in Nemaha County, NB, the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Dennis) Weatherfield.  She moved to Milan, MO with her parents in 1941 and graduated from Milan High School.  In later years she fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse and graduated from the Trenton Jr. College School of Nursing.  She worked in the nursing profession for over 30 years.  Velma was married to James Lloyd on January 25, 1943 at Winfield, KS, where James was serving with the Army-Air Force.  After his discharge they lived for 48 years on a farm near Humphreys, MO.  In 1989 they retired and moved to Trenton.  Velma was a member of the First Baptist Church, lifetime member of the Wright Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and enjoyed doing volunteer work.
Surviving relatives include her daughters Elaine Burchett and husband Bob of Trenton and Anna Rae Harper and husband Ron of Mesa, AZ, 5 grandchildren Mike (Monica) Burchett of Trenton, Jim (Sharon) Burchett of Platte City, MO, Steve Burchett and fiancée Kristi of Smithville, MO, Traci (Mike) Guerra of Gilbert, AZ and Jamie Hamilton of Springfield, MO, six great grandchildren: Cody, Mallory, Marcus, Carson and Dalton Burchett and Makayla and Rylee Guerra.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Jody Lloyd Hamilton, brothers Robert and Earl Weatherfield, sister Irene Soper, great grandson Tyler Burchett and twin great granddaughters Cameron and Devan Guerra.
