Virginia Rose (Wheeler) Bonta, 87, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Trenton, passed away May 31, 2019 at New Mark Care Center in Kansas City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in South Evans Cemetery north of Trenton. A visitation is scheduled from 1:00 until service time Saturday. Open visitation will begin Friday at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorial donations may be made to South Evans Cemetery and left with or mailed to the funeral home.
She was the daughter of Walter and Patsy (Golden) Wheeler and the youngest of their 13 children. Most of her life was spent in Grundy County until moving to Kansas City in 1991. Mrs. Bonta married Charles Wendell Bonta on June 3, 1951 and had three children. She was a member of Rural Dale Baptist Church. During her children’s school years she served as room mother, PTA member and PTA president for two years. She then spent 17 years as a school cook at S.M. Rissler. Some of Mrs. Bonta’s favorite past times and hobbies were sewing, reading, crocheting, picking all kinds of wild berries and dancing with her husband. She was a diehard Chiefs and Royals fan. After moving to New Mark Care Center 2011 she continued doing crafts making many dioramas.
Mrs. Bonta is survived by her children, Winola Wood and husband Leonard, Patsy Bryan, Wayne Bonta and wife Carolyn, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband, siblings, and several of her in-laws, nieces and nephews.
