Verla D. (Milner) Propps, 95, of Maryland Heights, MO, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 in her home surrounded by her family. She was a former resident of O'Fallon, MO.
Verla Propps, Born on July 11, 1923 near Galt, Missouri, was the fourth of seven children born to Ira and Leveta (Higgins) Milner. She was united in marriage to Jewell Glenwood Propps on September 10, 1942 in Princeton, MO. To this union five children were born. After World War II, Jewell and Verla moved to Denver, CO where they settled and started their family. During the early part of married life she was a homemaker devoting her time to her growing family. When the children were still young, the family relocated to the St. Louis area where she later worked for the May Company Stores until she retired. She volunteered at the O'Fallon, MO Senior Center for several years before moving to Maryland Heights where she remained an active volunteer with the Bridgeton Senior Center for many years. Verla was a long-time member of the New Heights Christian Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Kamphefner of Maryland Heights, MO, Janice Parker of St. John, MO, and Judy Mooy of FLorissant, MO, two sons-in-laws, Gene Kamphefner and Robert Parker, six grandchildren, Chris Keisker, Kathi Shelton, Anthony Parker, Connie Novak, Staci Barrett and Denise Foust, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by a sister Gayla Hicks of Kansas City, MO, a brother Robert Milner of Great Falls, MT, a sister-in-law Sarah Milner of Camdenton, MO and a host of other family and friends.
Besides her parents, Verla was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Jewell Propps, an infant daughter and son, three brothers, Glenn, Donald, and Ralph Milner, one sister Kathryn Putnam, two grandchildren, Jennifer Kamphefner and Kevin Parker, and one great-grandson, Jacey Novak.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Newtown Christian Church in Newtown, MO. Burial will follow in Harris Cemetery in Harris, MO. A visitation will be from 1:00 until service time Tuesday. Memorial donations are suggested to Meals on Wheels and may be left with or mailed to Slater Neal Funeral Home in Trenton.
