Mr. Russell L. Ellis, 85 year old resident of Trenton, MO, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 9:08 P.M. at Wright Memorial Hospital, Trenton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 at Slater-Neal Funeral Home of Trenton. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 until 7:00 Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Joseph L. Norton V.F.W. Post 919 and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Russell Lee Ellis was born October 2, 1933 in Trenton to Bryant and Myrtle (Hobbs) Ellis. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On March 15, 1983 he was united in marriage to Thelma Gardner in Harrisonville, MO. For many years Russell worked for Trenton Foods, retiring in 1996. He also mowed many yards until a few years ago. He enjoyed attending Coon Creek Baptist Church and Tenth Street Baptist Church when he was able. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers, gardening and feeding birds and squirrels.
Survivors include his wife Thelma of Trenton, sons Ronnie Ellis of Colorado and Russell Ellis Jr. of Kirksville, MO, step sons Terry Gardner and wife Liz of Laredo, MO, and Ronald Modaff and wife Shelly of Oregon, step daughter Thelma Peterson of Trenton, two sisters JoAnn Sawyer and Mary Lou Ellis one brother George Ellis and his wife Paula, and a sister-in-law Janice Ellis all of Trenton, 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Those preceding him in death include his parents and a brother James Ellis.
