Roy Simpson, a 93 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Kansas City Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Open visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. His body is to be cremated afterwards with inurnment at a later date in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. Memorial donations are suggested to either the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Roy Eugene Simpson was born February 27, 1926 in Pocahontas, IA, to Richard and Ada Cleo (Lankford) Simpson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from March 1951 to March 1953. On April 13, 1952 he was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Roberts in Trenton. After his service time he began work at Trenton Hardware and later became a partial owner of the store. He sold his share of the store in 1973 and started farming. Roy served on the Trenton Township as well as a being a Grundy County Commissioner for 13 years. .
Surviving relatives include his wife Marilyn of Trenton, sons David Simpson and wife Cindy, Fred Simpson and wife Glenda all of Trenton, and Ron Simpson and wife Gayle of Wheeling, grandchildren Eric and Aaron Bunnell, Andrea Kepner, Katie Fenimore, Jason and Jonathan Simpson, Amanda Vandevender, Crystal Stretch and Ashley Allnutt, 23 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, daughter Patty Bunnell, and siblings Virgil Simpson, Bill Simpson, Marvin Simpson, Donna Stoll, Fred Volzke and Ann Sheffield.
